Barter Boat

Barter Boat is an interactive installation where you (yes, you!) can barter objects with the artists. These objects then enter our rotating inventory, which will travel to our next stop. In defiance of the USA's single-use consumer culture, we love to learn about how real people find emotional, artistic, or personal value in objects. Barter Boat started in Minneapolis, and since then it has sailed to more than ten states across the USA. We're thrilled to be back at BLINK.

Barter Boat functions very much like a carnival game, except it costs no money and everyone gets a prize for participating. Bring an interesting object that has meaning to you (and that you don't mind carrying around for the rest of the festival). Then, we will barter with you for something we got from someone else at a previous Barter Boat stop!
