Wendy Yu is an Australian new media designer focusing on using 3D to elevate experiences of public spaces. Born in Sydney, Yu was highly influenced by international new media artists and artist groups such as Universal Everything and Ryoji Ikeda who’s works featured an effective use of creating coding and systematic programming to achieve compelling modes of storytelling. Being trained as a classical dancer, her involvement in the fields of computer assisted design and choreographic movement aims to discover ways in which dance and design can come together to create greater instances of storytelling. Yu has presented works for outdoor projection globally as well as created projections for Adidas Basketball Harden Vol. 6 signature sneaker launch in 2022 and for the Rose Kennedy Greenway Public Arts Program in 2023. She has won the International Outstanding Youth Award for the work Acts of Holding Dance in 2023 and the Think Youth - Shanghai International Digital Creation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition - New Media Arts Division 2022. Yu is continually inspired by creative applications of design and programming techniques and has a keen fascination to further her abilities in creating engaging visual journeys for the public.
