Details

The Cincinnati Skatepark Project began in 2022 as a citizen-led effort to advocate for safe, sustainable, inclusive public skateparks in Cincinnati. From the streets of Los Angeles to the Olympics in Paris, skateboarding is a uniquely urban athletic activity that encourages creativity and builds community. Modern skateparks are inviting spaces that benefit physical and mental health, build community, and empower youth. Skateparks can also incorporate sustainability features (e.g., rain gardens, native trees) and arts/culture (e.g., murals, sculpture) to activate underserved neighborhood spaces. Skating brings together diverse groups of people who create and activate urban spaces, in turn attracting spectators. At BLINK, we seek to highlight the unique mix of art and athleticism inherent in skating (skateboarding, roller skating, inline skating), and elevate connections with music and culture to promote the need for public skateparks in Cincinnati and beyond.

The Cincinnati Skatepark Project is building a pop up skate spot at BLINK to highlight the unique mix of art and athleticism inherent in skating (skateboarding, roller skating, inline skating), elevate connections with music and culture, and promote the need for public skateparks in Cincinnati and beyond. We will have colorful skate ramps, active skate demos, skate art workshops, and more. Come see how skating brings together diverse groups of people who create and activate urban spaces.
