Makoto Inoue

Makoto Inoue is a Berlin-based media artist and techno producer, known for his minimalist, abstract works exploring the nature of the universe in Buddhist thought. Born in Tokyo, Japan, he grew up in a temple and studied Buddhism under his father. Influenced by Buddhism, his art includes not only visual art but also film, stage productions, and music. In the 2010s, he won numerous awards for his performing arts, after which he shifted his main focus to music and media art. He now works mainly in Berlin and other parts of Europe. Recently, he has also presented audiovisual live performances and had a major solo exhibition at the Urban Spree gallery in Berlin in March/April 2024.
