Inspired by nature, magic, and interconnectedness, Julia Lipovsky makes spirited line drawings that reflect a joyful order in the universe. This line work, often swirled with densely balanced florals and figures, has spread across museum walls, classrooms, storefront windows, handbags, and many reams of copy paper. Her practice, planted at the intersection of fine art, illustration, and community, allows her to connect more deeply to herself, her surroundings, and likeminded clients and collaborators. After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2015, Lipovsky returned to Cincinnati, where she has worked closely with organizations like Visionaries + Voices, Wave Pool, and Indigo Hippo to help broaden access to creativity. She has held residencies at the Contemporary Arts Center (2020) and Cincinnati Art Museum (2023) and her work can be viewed in the CAC's Creativity Center. She works out of General Store, a storefront studio she shares and programs alongside her husband in Cincinnati's Northside neighborhood.
