ARTIST: LARRY MALOTT
Forealism Tribe's Light Ship and Infinity Portals will incorporate light, projection mapping, performances, audience engagement and dance parties, creating an otherworldly experience for attendees.
The Light Ship, which is the central sculpture, is constructed of 24 cuboids made from recycled plexiglass coated with a two way mirrored film. Projection mapped video, music and sound activates the Light Ship, bringing it to life. During BLINK, the Forealism Tribe will conduct, control, and interact with the Light Ship using the installation to host dance parties and performances. The Light Ship will transform into a DJ booth from which Forealism Tribe will DJ – creating one of the most exciting locations along the event path. Two interactive Infinity Portals will be in place next to the Light Ship. These mirrored plexiglass cubes will use projection mapping to create infinity rooms that can be viewed from both inside and outside. Forealism Tribe seeks to create an installation that activates light both in the day and at night. During the day, sunlight will activate the mirrored surfaces of the Light Ship and Infinity Portals, reflecting light onto the surrounding environment. The installation surfaces will also present a reflection of the surrounding environment, creating structural geometric mirages.
